The Federal Maritime Commission has been making headlines the past few weeks. The little-known agency, outside of those in the maritime business of cargo and cruise ship operations, this week announced a planned audit of the detention and demurrage practices of the nine largest carriers by market share.
This is the latest in a recent string of prominent actions by the agency building on the Fact Finding which commenced last year.
